Hyaluronic acid is a water reservoir that primarily binds moisture and provides soft volume. Radiesse®, on the other hand, is firmer and acts as a biostimulator. It not only builds volume, but also stimulates the skin to produce its own supporting tissue again. It is therefore better suited for sharp contours and tightening.
The injection is performed using very fine needles or blunt cannulas. In addition, modern Radiesse® preparations often already contain lidocaine, a local anaesthetic that makes the treatment very comfortable and virtually painless.
Most patients can resume their daily activities immediately. Occasionally, slight swelling or small bruises may occur at the injection sites, but these can be easily covered with make-up and disappear completely after a few days.

The treatment should not be carried out in cases of acute skin inflammation in the treatment area, known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Radiesse® is also not suitable for the lips due to its firmness.
