Oral surgery in Zurich

Professional expertise and surgical precision

Modern dentistry does not end at the surface of the teeth. Maintaining oral health or preparing for aesthetic restorations often requires specialised surgical procedures. At The Eram Clinic, we combine the highest level of professional expertise in oral surgery with state-of-the-art technology and empathetic patient management. Our goal is to make surgical procedures in the oral cavity as tissue-sparing, painless and safe as possible. Whether it's wisdom tooth removal, complex bone augmentation or corrective gum surgery, we offer surgical excellence in a relaxed and exclusive atmosphere.

Surgery with vision

The term oral surgery encompasses all surgical procedures involving the teeth, gums and jawbone. At The Eram Clinic, we place great importance on understanding surgery not only as a solution to a problem, but as the basis for long-term aesthetics and function. A classic field is the surgical removal of wisdom teeth or severely damaged teeth that can no longer be preserved. Here, we rely on minimally invasive techniques to preserve the surrounding tissue and valuable jawbone as much as possible.

Another focus of our clinic is corrective surgery. This includes, for example, root tip resections to preserve a tooth after inflammation or the exposure of displaced teeth as part of orthodontic treatment. We often use state-of-the-art digital imaging techniques such as DVT (digital volume tomography) to plan these procedures. This three-dimensional representation allows us to analyse nerve pathways and anatomical structures with millimetre precision before the first incision is made. This transparency not only creates trust, but also significantly minimises the risk of complications.

Plastic periodontal surgery: aesthetics for the gums

A beautiful smile is largely determined by the harmonious interplay of teeth and gums – known as ‘red aesthetics’. At The Eram Clinic, we perform specialised oral surgery procedures to optimise the appearance of your gums. This includes the correction of gum recession through mucosal grafts or surgical crown lengthening in cases of a so-called ‘gummy smile’, where too much gum is visible when smiling.

These microsurgical procedures require a steady hand and a keen aesthetic sense. By correcting the gum line, we can harmonise the proportions of your teeth and protect sensitive tooth necks at the same time. We often consider these surgical measures to be a necessary foundation before fitting veneers or crowns in order to guarantee a perfect and symmetrical end result. Thanks to the finest instruments and modern suture materials, healing is usually quick and uncomplicated.

Aftercare and support

At The Eram Clinic, our responsibility does not end with the surgical procedure. Professional aftercare is crucial to the long-term success of any operation. We closely monitor you throughout the healing phase and provide you with detailed instructions for the days following the procedure. To minimise the risk of infection, we often recommend accompanying professional dental hygiene before the operation to reduce the number of germs in the oral cavity.

In addition, we are happy to advise you on how you can support the healing process through proper nutrition and specific behavioural rules. If a surgical procedure is required to prepare for dental implants, such as bone augmentation, we coordinate the entire treatment sequence from a single source. Once the surgical wounds have healed, the foundation is laid for further aesthetic enhancements such as teeth whitening or new restorations. In our modern premises in Zurich, we ensure that you feel safe, understood and well cared for throughout the entire process.

Frequently asked questions about oral surgery

Surgery is necessary if teeth cannot be preserved using conventional methods, if there is inflammation in the jawbone, or if there is insufficient bone for a planned implant. Aesthetic corrections to the gums also fall into this category.

During the procedure, you will be completely pain-free thanks to the anaesthesia. After the operation, you may experience slight swelling or wound pain. At The Eram Clinic, you will receive individually tailored pain management to help you get through the first few days comfortably.

That depends on the type of procedure. After minor corrections, you can often resume your normal activities the very next day. For more extensive operations such as wisdom tooth removal or bone augmentation, you should plan for a rest period of 2 to 4 days.

We recommend refraining from intensive sport and physical exertion for about a week. Physical exertion increases blood pressure, which could promote secondary bleeding or interfere with wound healing.

As with any operation, there are general risks such as infection or swelling. However, thanks to our precise 3D planning and the use of sterile disposable materials, we minimise these risks to an absolute minimum at The Eram Clinic.
