How the erbium laser works
The erbium YAG laser operates at a specific wavelength that is absorbed particularly efficiently by the water in our skin cells. This allows for extremely precise and controlled ablation of the uppermost layers of skin without causing thermal damage to the surrounding tissue. In contrast to older laser systems, the Erbium laser generates significantly less heat, which shortens the healing phase and minimises the risk of pigmentation changes.

Frequently asked questions about erbium lasers
Thanks to modern technology and the use of a highly effective anaesthetic cream before treatment, most patients only feel a slight tingling or warming sensation. During the laser treatment, we also use a special cooling system that protects the skin surface and makes the application very comfortable.
Immediately after the treatment, the skin will be reddened and may be slightly swollen, similar to after intense sunbathing. In the following days, the skin will usually peel off finely, revealing a new, fresh layer underneath. We will advise you in detail on how to get through this phase with the right care.
When removing pigment spots or fine lines, we often achieve excellent results after just one session. For deeper acne scars or comprehensive skin rejuvenation, we usually recommend a course of two to three treatments at intervals of several weeks.
Strict sun protection with a high sun protection factor (SPF 50) is mandatory for at least four to six weeks after treatment. As the new skin is very sensitive to light, we recommend that laser treatments are ideally carried out during the months with less sunshine.
