How dental implants work
Dental implants are usually made of high-purity titanium or modern ceramics – materials known for their excellent biocompatibility. They are inserted directly into the jawbone in a minimally invasive procedure. During the subsequent healing phase, a fascinating biological process takes place, known as osseointegration: The bone tissue grows directly onto the surface of the implant, creating a stable and resilient unit.
At The Eram Clinic, we use digital planning tools to determine the optimal position of the implant in advance on the computer. This enables an extremely tissue-friendly procedure and ensures maximum safety during the operation. Once the implant has healed firmly, the abutment (post) is screwed on, which serves as a connecting element for the visible denture. This structure also prevents the dreaded bone loss, as the jawbone is physiologically stressed again by the implant – just like with a natural tooth root.
Aesthetics at the highest level: invisible dentures
One of the biggest advantages of dental implants at our Zurich clinic is their aesthetic superiority. Since the implant replaces the natural tooth root, no healthy substance from the neighbouring teeth needs to be ground down to close the gap, as would be the case with a conventional bridge. The denture attached to the implant – usually a custom-made all-ceramic crown – is precisely matched to your remaining teeth in terms of shape and colour so that it integrates seamlessly into the row of teeth.
We attach great importance to ensuring that the emergence profile from the gum also looks completely natural. Using special shaping techniques for the soft tissue, we achieve a result in which the artificial crown appears to grow out of the gum like a real tooth. Whether you need to replace a single front tooth or restore a completely toothless jaw, at The Eram Clinic we combine medical expertise with an exclusive eye for detail to offer you a solution that gives you complete confidence when speaking and smiling.
Why dental implants are an excellent choice for your future
Choosing an implant is a long-term investment in your health and well-being. Unlike removable dentures, implants offer a firm hold that does not cause pressure points or impair your sense of taste. They also protect the remaining tooth substance and preserve facial contours by preventing bone loss, which typically occurs after tooth loss. With optimal care and regular prophylaxis, dental implants can last a lifetime. You will regain a carefree attitude that enriches every social interaction – from carefree laughter to enjoying solid foods.

Advantages of dental implants
- Natural chewing sensation: Firm hold and full load-bearing capacity comparable to your own teeth.
- Protection of adjacent teeth: No grinding of healthy tooth substance necessary for bridge abutments.
- Preservation of the jawbone: Physiological stimulation of the bone prevents its recession.
- Highest aesthetics: Individually manufactured ceramic dentures for invisible integration.
- Long-lasting solution: High-quality materials and precise surgery for a lifelong perspective.

Comprehensive care: from prophylaxis to implant checks
At The Eram Clinic, our care does not end with the successful placement of the implant. The long-term success of implant treatment depends largely on excellent oral hygiene. To prevent inflammation of the implant bed (peri-implantitis), we integrate our patients into a special professional dental hygiene programme. The implants are cleaned with special instruments that do not scratch the surface in order to prevent bacterial colonisation.
A healthy overall appearance can also be perfected with further aesthetic measures. Many patients opt for teeth whitening before the final restoration of the implants so that the new ceramic crown can be matched directly to the lighter shade of white. After the procedure in our modern premises in Zurich, we accompany you through the healing phase and are available to offer advice and support. Our goal is for you to leave the practice with a smile that not only feels good, but also fits perfectly into your life, both biologically and aesthetically.

Frequently asked questions about dental implants
Thanks to modern local anaesthesia, the procedure itself is completely painless. After the operation, there may be slight swelling, but this can be easily controlled with cooling and standard painkillers. Most patients find the procedure less stressful than a conventional tooth extraction.
With good oral hygiene at home and regular professional cleaning at the clinic, implants can last for decades or even a lifetime. This makes them one of the most sustainable solutions in modern dentistry.
There is no upper age limit. The only important factors are that bone growth has been completed (usually from around the age of 18) and that the patient's general state of health allows for minor surgery. Even in old age, implants can significantly improve quality of life by providing firmly fixed dentures.
If there is insufficient bone substance for stable anchoring, we offer modern bone augmentation methods at The Eram Clinic. Either the patient's own bone or replacement material is used to create a secure foundation for the implant.
Since titanium and ceramics are biocompatible, allergic rejection reactions are practically non-existent. Loss of the implant is extremely rare and is usually due to infections caused by poor hygiene or smoking. At The Eram Clinic, we minimise these risks through close monitoring and preventive care.
